It is controlled by the Imperial Army General Staff Office and the Ministry of Defense. The supreme commander is the Emperor of Toishima. The Imperial Toishiman Army is responsible for all planetside activities, including blue and brownwater naval activities. The Imperial Toishiman Army has several subsidiaries. These include the Army, the Water Navy and the Army Air Corps. It is based in the Imperial Army Complex in Ichigaya City, Fushiginasekai. The present chief of Chief of Staff of the Imperial Army is General Yujiro Toyama.

The Imperial Army is the largest force within Toishima's military forces. As of the present, it comprises of at least 1.25 billion soldiers.

BranchesEdit

Imperial Toishiman Army Ground ForceEdit

Imperial Army Trooper

The main fighting force of the Imperial Army is the Imperial Toishiman Army Ground Force (ITAGF) (帝国軍地上部隊, Teikoku-gun chijō butai). It is comprised of the millions of troops and vehicles that take part in combat operations on solid ground, and contains numerous subdivisions that would be too exhaustive to list. This is the largest branch in the entire Imperial Military, possibly even rivalling the Imperial Navy itself in size. The ITAGF views itself as a powerfl military force, blocked only by its inability to fly through space on its own.

As the main front-line troops of the Imperial Army, the ITAGF has massive amounts of troops and vehicles, with the sheer amount of soldiers exceeding the populations of some smaller planets. Its vehicle pool includes a wide variety of vehicles, from light and nimble Type-49 Niwatori scout walkers to robust, ubiquitous Type-24 Ni-Yon Main Battle Tanks to massive, dual-cannoned Type-99 Dai-Kunshu Heavy Tanks.

The ITAGF has a very high popularity amongst all the branches of the Imperial Military, with the usual hyped-up allure of exciting frontline combat. Ultimately, many soldiers do not end up on the front lines, as there are actually very rarely any front lines in the present time.

Imperial Toishiman Army Air ForceEdit

Found in both offensive and supportive roles, the Imperial Toishiman Army Air Force (ITAAF) (帝国軍空軍, Teikoku-gun kūgun) is the main air arm of the Imperial Army, responsible for providing air support to the people on the ground. It is responsible for all air assets that belong to the Imperial Army, including all fighters, bombers, gunships and transport craft. It is the third-most populous branch of the Imperial Army, after the Ground Force and the Spacefleet.

The ITAAF is usually responsible for ferrying troops to and from space, as well as providing much needed air coverage and close air support as well as long-range strike missions. ITAAF units regularly work together with Imperial Navy Fighter Corps units to maintain air superiority over all combat zones throughout a conflicted planet. The ITAAF deploys either from land-based bases or space-borne units, occasionally using Navy carriers as well.

ITAAF and Navy Fighter Corps do not have a good relationship, and are rival agencies that oppose each other for funding and aircraft designs. Ultimately, this has resulted in both forces having unique yet compatible designs, the forefront of the ITAAF's units being the A76D Shinryaku Multirole Fighter.

Imperial Toishiman Army NavyEdit

Contrary to the usual use of the word, the Imperial Toishiman Army Navy (ITAN) (帝国軍海軍, Teikoku-gun Kaigun) is not a space-borne fighting force but rather operates actualy combat ships and submarines. This is one of the smaller branches of the Imperial Military as a whole, and rarely sees action due to the difficulty of transporting entire warships to and from orbit during a planetary invasion. It has and can been done, however.

Largely acting as a specialised support force, the ITAN has large amounts of submarines and missile ships that are capable of launching surface-to-space and surface-to-surface missiles and rockets for combat purposes, and usually establishes large flottilas of cargo and transport ships for ease of supply for military activies on planets. The ITAN also establishes large nets of air-and-space coverage through the use of aquatic carriers that can launch fighters while on the move.

As much of the ITAN's equipment is heavily automated and computer-controlled, every ship has drastically fewer crew than their ancient counterparts, an example being that a team of fifteen sailors is capable of operating a full-sized missile destroyer. As the slow, far from the frontlines ITAN is inevitably one of the more unpopular branches of choice for enlistees, such automation is a blessing for the undermanned naval garrisons of many Imperial worlds.

Imperial Toishiman Army SpacefleetEdit

Open Zero

The Crossed Zero, standard of the ITAS

For transport between planets, the Imperial Army relies on the Imperial Toishiman Army Spacefleet (ITAS)(帝国軍宇宙艦隊, Teikoku-gun uchū kantai), which is the main space arm of the Imperial Army. The ITAS is mainly responsible for transporting the other braches of the Imperial Army throughout space to where they are needed, as well as to provide long-range space support to ground campaigns. To this end, they operate two classes of starships capable of carrying heavy weapons for ground bombardment. At the end of the day, though, just like Navy SNLF Marines cannot survive without the Army's support, the ITAS cannot survive without the support of the Navy.

Despite the aformentioned armed starships, the ITAS is not a frontline unit and is more suited to supportive actions. It has a fleet of transport ships to this end, and has limited control over some dropships. Factional infighting being what it is, it is not clear what actually comes under the command of ITAS and ITAAF when it comes to space and air negotiating craft such as dropships.

Imperial GuardsEdit

The Imperial Guards (近衛師団 Konoe Shidan) is an elite unit within the Imperial Army that is dedicated to the protection of the Emperor of Toishima, the Imperial Family, palaces and other imperial properties. They are a fanatical, well-trained and well-equipped force. Their equipment and uniforms are usually in the national colours of red and white and often have patriotic motifs prominently displayed.

Note that the Imperial Guards and the Imperial Royal Guard are separate organisations. While the Imperial Guards are a part of the Imperial Army and act as an elite fighting force in addition to their duties of protecting the Emperor and his family and their properties, the Imperial Royal Guard are tasked with protecting the Emperor and the Imperial Family and the Forbidden City only.

Special UnitsEdit

All special units of the Imperial Toishiman Army come under the command of the Toishima Special Forces Group (特殊作戦群, Tokushu Sakusen Gun, TkSkG or SFGp). These units range from elite sharpshooter units to space-to-ground shock troops to the legendary and feared Imperial Army Commandos.

Imperial Army CommandosEdit

The Imperial Army Commandos are the legendary elite troops of the Imperial Army, capable of multiple missions and black-ops activities ranging from assassinations to heavy frontline assault. The Commandos are commonly found in black and green body armour with gas masks for psychological warfare, and are trained in various insertion techniques to get them to where they are needed. Each Commando is a fearsome soldier, the top of his class and equipped to get his mission done. The Imperial Army Commandos are more suited and trained for violent, frontal assaults and heavy attacks, as well as heavy demolitions. This is why they are constantly in conflict with their Navy counterparts, which prefer more quiet operations.

Teishin ShudanEdit

The Teishin Shudan (挺進集団, Raiding Group) is a force of elite, air and space-borne infantry that are trained in both orbital insertion as well as "traditional" paradrop techniques. They are usually deployed from orbit via landing craft or three-man insertion capsules and are skilled in survival behind enemy lines.

Giretsu KutetaiEdit

The Giretsu Kuteitai (義烈空挺隊, Giretsu Kuteitai) are space-ground reconnaissance troops which act as spotters for long-range artillery and space-based artillery, as well as light ambush units. Giretsu are not meant to engage the enemy in direct combat, and lack the training and equipment of the Teishin Shudan. Instead, they are trained in stealth and concealement, and carry powerful communications equipment to remain in contact with command. Giretsu teams operate in small teams of five, typically dropped via insertion capsules from space.

Dokuritsu KoheiEdit

The Dokuritsu Kohei (挺進集団, Independent Troops) are special assault specialists that are specialised at taking on enemy fortifications and heavily dug-in locations. These elite, highly-trained troops are usually found at the forefront of Imperial Army attacks, before the infantry grunts.

SogekiheiEdit

The Sogekihei (狙撃兵, Sharpshooters) are heavily-motivated troops selected from amongst the cream of the Imperial Army's sharpshooters. They are highly trained in the art of camouflage, concealment and remaining still for long periods of time, as well as wilderness lone survival skills. They are usually equipped with the Type-99 Arisaka Battle Rifle or the sharpshooter version of the Type-32 Laser Carbine. Sogekihei are usually found acting as either advance scouts or lone operators hunting down enemy commanders deep behind enemy lines.

Ground VehiclesEdit

TanksEdit

Type-95 Ha-Go Light TankEdit

The Type-95 Ha-Go is an amphibous light tank. Its main armament is a 85mm rifled cannon.  It is fast and lightly armoured, and is usually used in infantry support or scouting roles. It is fully amphibous with a flat boat-shaped full, and is equipped with snorkels for the gas turbine engine and is propelled by twin water jets when in the water, as well as its tracks. Typically for a Toishiman tank, it has a crew of three, with an autoloader to load the cannon. This, however, in conjunction with the 105mm cannon, makes the vehicle quite heavy, which is why some armour had to be sacrificed. It moves at a top speed of 15 kilometers per hour in water.

The Type-87 has a crew of three and carries a 85mm rifled gun, eight smoke grenade launchers, a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and a hatch-mounted 14.5mm machine gun. It can effectively engage enemy infantry and medium vehicles, and can challenge some heavy vehicles. It is fully amphibous.

  • Crew: 3
  • Length: 8.44 m
  • Height: 2.5 m
  • Weight: 22.8 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 75 km/h (land), 15 km/h (water)
  • Armament: 1x Type-95 85mm rifled gun, 1x coaxial Type-74 7.62mm Machine gun, 1x hatch-mounted Type-99 14.5mm Machine Gun, 8x smoke grenade launchers
  • Armour: Steel Plating, Optional ERA

Type-97 Chi-Ha Medium TankEdit

The Type-97 Chi-Ha is a medium battle tank. Its main armament is a 105mm rifled cannon, and also has a coaxial Type-32 20mm cannon and a hatch-mounted Type-99 4.15mm heavy machine gun. Like most Toishiman tanks, it requires a crew of three, with an autoloader mechanism used for loading the main gun. Built with aged technology from centuries ago, the Type-97 is a reliable but geriatric fighting vehicle, still equipped with a target illuminator and non-holographic displays. It has been serving the Empire ever since main-line production of the Type-34 Samurai tank ended two centuries ago, and served as the Empire's main battle tank for almost a century and a half before the introduction of the new, modern Type-24 Ni-Yon. Despite its shortfalls the Type-97 has remained a force to be reckoned with, and has been upgraded constantly to ensure it remains relevant in the battlefield. Indeed, the Type-97 was a necessary technological step between the Type-34 and the Type-24, and this shows in various ways, such as the improved nano-crystal steel used in the sloped armour of this tank and the use of a 20mm cannon as the coaxial weapon.

The Type-97 has a crew of three and carries a 105mm rifled gun, four multiple-launch smoke grenade launchers, a coaxial 20mm cannon and a hatch-mounted 14.5mm machine gun. It can effectively engage enemy infantry, medium vehicles and some heavy vehicles.

  • Crew: 3
  • Length: 9.48 m
  • Height: 2.28 m
  • Weight: 36 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 60 km/h (land)
  • Armament: 1x Type-62 105mm rifled gun, 1x coaxial Type-74 7.62mm Machine gun, 1x hatch-mounted Type-99 14.5mm Machine Gun, 4x multiple-launch smoke grenade launchers
  • Armour: Nano-Crystal Hardened Steel Plating, Optional ERA and side-skirts
Type-3 Chi-NuEdit

The Type-3 Chi-Nu is a medium battle tank developed from the Type-97 Chi-Ha, and is very much the same vehicle but improved somewhat and modernised. It is armed with a new 120mm smoothbore cannon as well as a coaxial Type-47 25mm chaingun. This version of the Type-97 comes with ERA plating already installed. The interior of the vehicle is also redesigned, with slightly more space for crewmembers and a faster autoloader. A modern holographic control system has been implemented, as well as more up-to-date communications systems.

The Type-97 has a crew of three and carries a 120mm smoothbore cannon, four multiple-launch smoke grenade launchers, a coaxial 25mm chaingun and a hatch-mounted 14.5mm machine gun. It can effectively engage enemy infantry, medium vehicles and some heavy vehicles.

  • Crew: 3
  • Length: 9.48 m
  • Height: 2.28 m
  • Weight: 38.2 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 60 km/h (land)
  • Armament: 1x Type-34 120mm smoothbore cannon, 1x coaxial Type-47 25mm chaingun, 1x hatch-mounted Type-99 14.5mm Machine Gun, 4x multiple-launch smoke grenade launchers
  • Armour: Nano-Crystal Hardened Steel Plating, ERA blocks, optional side-skirts

Type-5 Chi-RiEdit

The Type-5 Chi-Ri is a heavy battle tank. It is armed with a 120mm smoothbore cannon, a coaxial 30mm cannon and a hatch-mounted 14.5mm machine gun. Like most Toishiman tanks, it has a crew of three with an autoloader mechanism responsible for loading the main gun. The Type-5 Chi-Ri was supposedly developed from the Type-97 Chi-Ha, though this was actually a fabrication for more funding. By disguising the new project as an upgrade for the Chi-Ha, the Chi-Ri was quickly approved by upper command. With new angular armoured surfaces, a large, blocky and flat turret, the Type-5 looks more like the new Type-24 Ni-Yon than the Type-97 Chi-Ha. Equipped with modern technology, the Type-5 Chi-Ri itself was intended as a brief stopgap during the brief MBT vacuum between the Type-97's relegation to "battle tank" and the Type-24's introduction. The Type-5 is thus a bastardised, rushed vehicle that attempts to be the Type-24 but ends up showing its true origins as a copy of a technology demonstrator rushed into production. While it has much of the Ni-Yon's weaponry and armour, the Chi-Ri still runs on the Chi-Ha's engine and the Chi-Nu's internals, resulting in it being underpowered and slow, especially since the engine was never designed to propel such weight. It also suffers from low-quality armour as a result of attempting to rush the production process to deliver the tank on time.

  • Crew: 3
  • Length: 11.0 m
  • Height: 2.37 m
  • Weight: 49.4 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 54 km/h (land)
  • Armament: 1x Type-34 120mm smoothbore cannon, 1x coaxial Type-9 30mm cannon, 1x hatch-mounted Type-99 14.5mm Machine Gun, 6x multiple-launch smoke grenade launchers
  • Armour: Nano-Crystal Steel Plating, Optiona ERA blocks and side-skirts

Type-24 Ni-Yon Main Battle TankEdit

Type-24 Alone

Type-24 Ni-Yon, "Charm of Death" Markings indicate this is the second tank of the 4th Platoon, 3rd Company, 2nd Battalion.

The Type-24 Ni-Yon is a heavy main battle tank. It is the backbone of the Imperial Army tank corps and is the the main battle tank of the Imperial Army. Its main armament is a 120mm smoothbore cannon, with a 30mm cannon as the coaxial weapon. It has a large turret, with both the commander's hatch and the secondary hatch capable of mounting machine guns, allowing an optional fourth crew member to provide even more supportive fire. The Type-24 Ni-Yon is the product of multiple centuries and generations of tank design works, starting from the ancient Type-10 tank used during the war for independence, to the legendary Type-34 Samurai tank, to the still-in-use Type-97 Chi-Ha. It is the most advanced tank currently in use in the Imperial Army, and is constantly improved and added to to ensure it remains useful and relevant in the galactic scene. The Type-24 Ni-Yon has the most compact autoloading mechanism to date in a Toishiman tank, and has the most powerful engine, capable of driving the 50-tonne tank along at a speed of 75 kilometers per hour on any terrain. Its heavy and varied weaponry allow for versatile uses and support options, from massed tank charges to infantry support actions. Its interior is spacious due to the reduced size of the autoloader and various systems, and it is equipped with the latest communications hardware as well as holographic control systems. Its armour is a heavily-tested layering of nano-crystal hardened reinforced steel plating, modular ceramic composite armour, depleted uranium sheets and lightweight titanium alloys on the turret. Like most Toishiman tanks, ERA and extra plating are easily applied to the tank. The Type-24 Ni-Yon has gained its place as the MBT of the Imperial Army also because of its almost artistic cost effectiveness, and is quite cheap compared to some previous tank designs. It usually shows up in vast numbers throughout the Empire and on battlefields.

The Type-24 has a crew of three and carries a 120mm smoothbore cannon, six multiple-launch smoke grenade launchers, a coaxial 30mm cannon, a hatch-mounted 14.5mm machine gun and another hatch-mounted 7.62mm machine gun. It can effectively engage enemy infantry, medium vehicles and heavy vehicles with impunity and with a high survivability rating.

  • Crew: 3 (+1 optional machine gunner)
  • Length: 9.49 m
  • Height: 2.30 m
  • Weight: 48.4 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 75 km/h
  • Armament: 1x Nishi-Osaka Steel 120mm smoothbore cannon, 1x coaxial Type-9 30mm cannon, 1x hatch-mounted Type-99 14.5mm Machine Gun, 1x hatch-mounted Type-74 7.62mm machine gun, 6x multiple-launch smoke grenade launchers
  • Armour: Nano-Crystal Hardened Reinforced Steel Plating, Modular Ceramic Composite Armour with Depleted Uranium sheeting, lightweight titanium alloy plating on turret, Optional ERA blocks and side-skirts

Type-74 Nana-Yon Super Heavy TankEdit

Super Heavy Tank

Type-74 Nana-Yon

The Type-74 Nana-Yon is a super-heavy tank weighing more than a hundred tonnes and running on quadruple tracks. It is armed with two main weapons, a pair or 140mm smoothbore cannons, and has an array of machine guns at its disposal as well as two 30mm coaxial autocannons that can be raised and lowered independently. The turret of the vehicle alone is a massive and impressive structure, as large as smaller vehicles. This huge turret contains ammunition stores, two autoloaders for the cannon and a reloading device for the autocannon. The interior of the turret it heavily automated, and is almost completely filled with machinery and inaccessible to crew members. Instead, the gunner commander sits in an armoured box on the front part of the turret with a commanding view of the terrain directly ahead of where the turret is facing. The gunner commander is provided with a 12.5mm machine gun as well. Directly above and behind this box is a large crew compartment where the tank commander is able to command the vehicle, with an all-round view of the battlefield in his armoured bunker-like structure. Below the gunner commander's box and under the base of the turret is the gunnery station, where two other gunnery crewmen operate the vehicle's many weapons. The two drivers are isolated at the front of the vehicle.

The Type-24 has a crew of six and carries twin 140mm smoothbore cannons, two coaxial 30mm cannons, a hatch-mounted 14.5mm machine gun and a 7.62mm machine gun controlled by the gunner commander. It can effectively engage enemy infantry, medium vehicles and heavy vehicles without fear of damage.

IFVs and APCsEdit

Type-40 Yon-Maru Infantry Fighting VehicleEdit

The Type-40 Yon-Maru is a tracked armoured infantry fighting vehicle. It is armed with a 35mm cannon and can carry three crewmembers and seven soldiers. A development of the Type-39 Ishigaki IFV, the Yon-Maru is in many ways an improvement over its predecessor. While it is no longer amphibous, the original 30mm cannon has been upgraded to a 35mm cannon, and more space has been created to fit more infantrymen. More armour has been added. However, its speed has also been reduced from 75 kilometers to around 70 kilometers per hour, though many commanders agree that the improved armament and survivability makes it much more superior to the original.

It has a crew of three, and has multiple firing ports as well as machine guns in addition to the 35mm cannon. It can also carry missile launchers. It can effectively engage enemy infantry and light armour.

  • Crew: 3 (+7 Passengers)
  • Height: 2.5 m
  • Weight: 29.7 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 70 km/h
  • Armament: 1x Nishi-Osaka Steel 35mm cannon, 2x Jyu-MAT optical wire missiles, 1x coaxial Type-74 7.62mm machine gun
  • Armour: Steel Plating

Type-87 Hachi-Nana Armoured Personnel CarrierEdit

The Type-87 Hachi-Nana is an eight-wheeled amphibous armoured personnel carrier capable of carrying three crewmembers and seven passengers. The Type-87 is the last in a long line of amphibous APCs that began from the infamous Type-12 APC, and is a vast improvement over the previous models. To provide more heavy fire support, the traditional 14.5mm heavy machine gun has been replaced by the Type-47 25mm chaingun, upon which multiple smoke grenade launchers are mounted. The medium armour remains largely unchanged, and the vehicle's distinct blocky, angular hull and side and back doors remain. The vehicle is protected against NBS threats and while the drivers usually use open hatches for vision, they are able to seal these hatches and have a periscope to continue driving the vehicle.

The Type-87 has a crew of three and carries a 25mm chaingun, five smoke grenade launchers, a 7.62mm machine gun and can carry the Jyu-MAT optical wire guided missile. It can effectively engage enemy infantry and light vehicles. It is fully amphibous.

  • Crew: 3 (+7 Passengers)
  • Height: 2.41 m
  • Weight: 13.6 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 85 km/h on land, 10 km/h on water
  • Armament: 1x Type-47 25mm chaingun, 2x Jyu-MAT optical wire missiles, 1x Type-74 7.62mm machine gun, 5x smoke grenade launchers

Artillery VehiclesEdit

Type-4 Ha-ToEdit

The Type-4 Ha-To is a self-propelled howitzer for mobile artillery purposes. It is armed with a 155mm howtizer capable of firing rocket-assisted shells up to 30 kilometers away, as well as conventional shells 18 kilometers. The howtizer is located in a alrge armoured turret at the rear of the vehicle's chassis. For close-range defensive purposes, the Type-4 Ha-To is equipped with a commander-controlled hatch-mounted Type-2 12.7mm machine gun and a coaxial Type-74 7.62mm machine gun.

The armour of the vehicle is light and is insufficient to protect against heavy weapons, but is impervious to small arms fire as well as other forms of battlefield debris. It typically carries up to 40 150mm shells in a specially isolated compartment to prevent accidental detonations in case of enemy fire.

  • Crew: 4
  • Height: 2.6 m
  • Weight: 33 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 505 km/h
  • Armament: 1x Nishi-Osaka Steel MH3 155mm Howtizer, 1x Coaxial Type-74 7.62mm Machine gun, 1x hatch-mounted Type-2 12.7mm Machine Gun
  • Armour: Steel Plating

Type-87 Hachi-Nana Self-Propelled Anti-Air GunEdit

The Type-87 Hachi-Nana is an armoured, self-propelled air defense system based around the Type-67 twin 35mm cannon anti-aircraft cannon. The Hachi-Nana, sometimes called the Guntank, is based on the Type-24 Ni-Yon chassis. Its main weapons are two Type-67 35mm anti-aircraft cannons capable of firing 550 rounds per minute per barrel. It is caable of firing many types of shells, such as armour-piercing, high explosive incendiary and tungsten-filled anti-missile shells. Equipped with powerful radars, tracking computers and scanning systems, the Type-87 is capable of detecting and shooting down enemy aircraft at a range of 4,000 meters.

It has a crew of 3.

  • Crew: 3
  • Height: 4.10 m
  • Weight: 44 tonnes

  • Armament: 2x 35mm Autocannon, 1x Type-2 12.7mm Machine Gun
  • Armour: Steel Plating

Type-20 Ta-Se Self-Propelled Anti-Air MaserEdit

The Type-20 Ta-Se is an armoured, self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle armed with a powerful maser cannon as an effective anti-aircraft weapon. Its main weapon is the Large-Type Kamikaze Mk 2 Directed Microwave Array, a larger version of the Small-Type Kamikaze Array anti-infantry weapon mounted on light vehicles. This weapon is capable of firing an extremely intense and focused beam of electromagnetic radiation at a target. This makes it an ideal anti-aircraft weapon. The weapon has a massive range and can hit the target almost instantly, either cooking the pilot alive or igniting the aircraft's fuel and weaponry. This is effective against almost all types of aircraft.

There is no comparable weapon in the Imperial Army's arsenal that can match the Ta-Se in terms of speed and efficiency. It does not require any solid ammunition and can down aircraft extremely quickly with the help of sophisticated and powerful sensors and equipment. Its beam can either be focused onto single targets or arrayed out to multiple targets, allowing it to engage swarms of enemy aircraft efficiently. Its drawbcks are its slow speed and lack of much armour to protect against heavy weapons fire- the Maser array is particularly succeptible even to small-arms fire. The Ta-Se has a crew of five.

  • Crew: 5
  • Height: 6.1 m
  • Weight: 132 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 45 km/h
  • Armament: 1x Large-Type Kamikaze Mk 2 Directed Microwave Array
  • Armour: Light Steel Plating

Walking VehiclesEdit

Type-49 Single-Pilot Bipedal Scout WalkerEdit

The Type-49 Single-Pilot Bipedal Scout Walker, known more commonly as the Niwatori (Lit. Chicken), is a one-man, all-terrain, light bipedal combat walker. It is powered by a gas turbine engine that is mounted on the rear of the walker's cockpit, which can be exposed or enclosed and can fit only one man. The Type-49 is usually used for scouting or when some form of vehicular support is needed on difficult terrain. It uses a sophisticated gyro-stabiliser system that keeps the walker steady on uneven or unstable terrain, and uses two articulated digitigrade-style legs that allow it to move at impressive speeds over open ground.

The Type-49 is usually used as scout vehicles, travelling far ahead of Imperial Army lines to spot enemy formations or as infantry support vehicles, and are armed with a chin-mounted 20mm cannon as well as one side-mounted hardpoint for other weapons. They are, however, not heavily armoured and are susceptible to small arms and anti-armour weapons such as rocket launchers.

  • Crew: 1
  • Height: 5.35 m
  • Weight: 7.5 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 120 km/h
  • Armament: 1x Type-32 20mm Chin-Mounted Cannon, left-side hardpoint for missile launcher, machine guns or other weapons
  • Armour: Light Steel Plating

Type-20 All-Terrain Bipedal Combat WalkerEdit

The Type-20 All-Terrain Bipedal Combat Walker is a heavily armed light ground combat vehicle capable of traversing almost all types of terrain with two powerful legs. It is powered by a gas turbine engine fitted in the back of the rotatable "head" cockpit, which is large enough to fit the two crew members, their gear and even a third man. The Type-20 is intended to act as a heavy, hard-hitting yet mobile vehicle somewhere between the Type-49 and main battle tanks, and is armed with chin-mounted dual 20mm cannons, a heavy machine gun and a grenade launcher on the left and right sides of the head, respectively. Its feet are also clawed for gripping difficult ground, though more nefarious anti-infantry uses for these claws have been found.

The Type-20 is used as an infantry support vehicle or a scout vehicle. It can also act as an impromptu personnel transport capable of carrying an extra man inside of the vehicle or up to four men- uncomfortably- clinging on to the top of the cockpit. Its armour is hardened against small-arms fire but is vulnerable to heavy weapons such as rocket launchers.

Type-96 Tripedal Armoured Heavy Combat WalkerEdit

The Type-96 Heavy Tripedal Combat Walker is a tripedal, heavily armed combat vehicle that can be used as a powerful armoured fighting vehicle, much like a heavily-armoured  self-propelled artillery piece or even a direct-fire tank destroyer. Much like most other Imperial Army walkers, the Type-93 is powered by a gas turbine engine located behind the armoured casemate.

The Type-96 is built around a large 125mm cannon, which can be used as a long-range artillery gun or a direct-fire gun for anti-armour purposes. Due to the recoil of the gun, however, the walker is unable to move while firing, and the lack of a turret of any sort means the entire walker has to rotate in the direction the gun is to face. It is well-armoured with modular ceramis and steel plating, making it as strong as regular tracked tanks. With its capability to traverse ground tanks may not be able to, the Type-96 does have its merits, though its high sillhouette and unstable, bipedal locomotive mode causes many drawbacks as well.

  • Crew: 3
  • Height: 11 m
  • Weight: 50.2 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 60 km/h
  • Armament: 1x Nishi-Osaka Steel 125mm Smoothbore Gun, 1x Cupola-Mounted Type-74 7.62mm Heavy Machine Gun, 1x Remote-Controlled Chin-Mounted Type-99 .50 Cal Heavy Machine Gun

Type-87 Single-Pilot Bipedal Missile Platform and Fire Support SystemEdit

The Type-87 Single-Pilot Bipedal Missile Platform and Fire Support System, sometimes refered to as the Ahiru (Lit. Duck) is a heavily armed, bipedal, one-man combat walking vehicle used in a support and heavy assault role. Due to its small size, it has found use as an urban warfare vehicle capable of operating in cramped confines, even inside of starship corridors and land installations.

It is a short, squat vehicle that has been almost universally derided- except by its own crews- for its hideous looks. Looking for all it is worth to be a shrunken, stunted Type-20 Walker, the Type-87 stands on two short but powerful digitigrade-style legs that end on feet tipped with vicious-looking claws. Unlike the tall and imposing Type-20 or thin and nimble Type-49, the Type-87 is short and fat, with much vertical space redirected towards the sides to reduce its profile. The pilot's cockpit is located behind a tinted, reinforced screen at the front of the rotatable "head" unit, behind which is the gas turbine engine and the walker's main armament, eight Type-4 self-loading guided missile launchers, each issued with five reloads for forty missiles per vehicle. This is due to the vehicle's main purpose as an infantry support vehicle, providing close-range artillery support and heavy fire support. For engaging swarms of infantry, the Type-87 mounts a Type-8 30mm Rotary Cannon on its chin.

Like the Type-20, its foot climbing claws can be used to lethal and disturbing effect against infantry on the ground. Rather than the incidental "feature" found in the Type-20, the Type-45's claws are actually considered another weapons system in its own right, with the legs capable of powerful leaps and bounds to allow this little ugly duckling to engage enemy troops with powerful kicks with its claws- a bizarre and brutal sight, if anything.

  • Crew: 1
  • Height: 1.98 m
  • Weight: 6.3 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 40 km/h
  • Armament: 8x Type-4 Guided Missile Launchers, 1x Type-8 30mm Rotary Cannon, Climbing Claws
  • Armour: Light titanium alloy plating

SjSS-660 Battlefield Command VehicleEdit

The SjSS-660 Battlefield Command Vehicle (戦場指揮車- Senjō shiki-sha) is a ten-wheeled vehicle developed from the KAW660 heavy truck. It is used as a command vehicle on the battlefield, to provide commanders with a secure and mobile array of communications devices and monitoring equipment that can keep up with forward advances.

The SjSS-660 includes an odd combination of "modern" equipment and redundant backup systems that seem to be from the past century. These include video and hologram surveillance hardware, strong battlefield computers and powerful inter-continental communications equipment, as well as ECM systems. These are backed up by redundant gear such as signal flags, a wired battlefield telephone, signal flares and even a 800m-long cord for the battlefield telephone. The SjSS-660 also has the capability to store and control the K39G UAV, which is heavily armed and can attack multiple targets.

As each vehicle is extremely vital and important to battlefield command and control, the vehicle is armed with a Type-47 25mm chaingun as well as a Type-99 14.5mm machine gun.

  • Crew: 12
  • Length: 22.0 m
  • Height: 4.2 m
  • Weight: 40.2 tonnes
  • Top Speed: 90 km/h
  • Armament: 1x Type-47 25mm Chaingun, 1x Type-99 14.5mm Machine Gun
  • Armour: Light Steel Plating, Optional ERA

Type-76NEdit

The Type-76N truck is all that remains in the main Imperial Army of the outdated Type-76 Yariwonageru MLRS. Dating back to the brief time when the Type-76 chassis without the Type-3 rocket pod was so popular that it became an off-road workhorse of sorts, the weaponless Type-76 has become so widespread and ubiquitous that it has been difficult trying to get rid of them at all. With better alternatives now available, the slow and ungainly Type-76N truck has fallen into use as artillery tractors and troop transports. With the failure of the Type-76M and Type-76T mortar and anti-air vehicles, these have been stripped down, creating even more Type-76N trucks.

Large numbers of Type-76N trucks have ultimately fallen into the hands of farmers and other civilians, becoming rusting tractors and cargo-haulers, often in civilian colours.

Assault ShipsEdit

An assault ship is a type of starship designed to land and support ground forces from space. These usually have the capability to enter atmospheres to better provide fire support and troop transport capabilities to troops on the ground. They are generally able to carry smaller aerospacecraft such as landers or space-incapable aircraft such a helicopters.

Osumi-Class Assault ShipEdit

The Osumi-Class Assault Ship is a medium-sized warship that acts as both an aerospace support asset as well as a troop carrying ship. This means it is capable of carrying troops to and from the surface of planets as well as operate within the atmosphere in a supportive role. It is capable of carrying up to 1,300 troops and up to 18 aircraft, as well as up to 30 vehicles or 20 tanks. It can remain hovering over a battlefield and provide support as a forward airfield or control station, though it lacks much offensive ground-attack weaponry. Two Daihatsu-Class landing craft are attached to each Osumi-Class Assault Ship for troop transport purposes.

The Osumi-Class is, understandably, fully VTOL-capable and can land on the surface of planets as well as operate in the skies.

Giga-Class Aerial BattleshipEdit

The Giga-Class Aerial Battleship, or Giga Fortress, is an immense assault ship capable of carrying thousands of troops and hundreds of aircraft, as well as multiple weapons systems capable of engaging almost any kind of target on the ground and in the air, and even in orbit. Its only weaknesses are its extremely slow airspeed and an almost complete vulnerability in space combat. Solid armour and powerful weapons make the Giga Fortress all but unapproachable when it hovers over the battlefield.

The Giga Fortress is equipped with over a half dozen heavy-duty cannons that fire superheated shells at long range as well as multiple independent-tracking missile launchers as well as an array of point-defence cannons. No expense was spared in the designing of this class of war machine- advanced lightweight composite armour, levitation systems that run on Handwavene, and extremely advanced sensors and processing systems are installed. In addition each Fortress is equipped with an advanced, semi-sentient Artificial Intelligence capable of running over 98% of the vehicle without human assistance. The insides of each ship is lined with servers, communications arrays, and self-diagnostic systems, many of which are redundant.

To fulfil its role as an assault ship, each Giga-Fortress is capable of carrying up to 150 aircraft and over 5,000 troops. While it is unable to land due to its underside design, rumours persist that the five-armed star shaped crafts can land and operate on water.

AircraftEdit

Most Imperial Army aircraft can operate in and outside of atmospheres.

Owashi-Class Landing CraftEdit

The Owashi-Class Landing Craft is a spaceworthy VTOL-capable aircraft that can carry up to 230,000 kgs of cargo. It is propelled by vectored thrusters both in and out of atmospheres, though the air-breathing jet engines have to be attached to external oxygen tanks for use in space. Owashi Landers are extremely slow and unmaneuverable both in space and in the atmosphere, and are very unaerodynamic. They are capable of returning to space after landing.

Their main purpose is to ferry troops and vehicles from space to the ground in a short time, after which they may take on the role of an assault transport, ferrying troops around the battlefield. It has space to carry 36 to 55 fully armed troops and their gear, and can act as a medivac vehicle in dire situations.

The Owashi Lander actually mounts a few weapons for basic defense, these being two 30mm autocannons beneath the angular cockpit, which protrudes from the boxy main body, upon which is a tall dorsal fin. Two large wing-like structures protrude outwards from the hull and curve downwards, acting as the Lander's main landing gear and vertical thrusters. The cargo bay is slung between the two legs, attached with powerful magnetic clamps. A forked tail emerges from the back of the aircraft and ends in a twin-stabiliser tail. The jet engines are located on both sides of the dorsal fin, looking like long rectangular tubes. The cargo bay's doors open outwards and downwards to allow troops and vehicles to charge down them like ramps.

The Lander is highly modifyiable, and the cargo bay can be easily removed to allow it to carry anything from artillery pieces to tanks to pieces of other Owashi Landers.

  • Armament: 2x 30mm autocannons, optional door guns
  • Crew: 4
  • Carries: 36 - 55 soldiers, up to 3 vehicles
  • Power Plant: Nakajima Ramjet Engine
  • Maximum Weight: 230,000 kg
  • Spaceworthy
  • Fully VTOL Capable

KaK-7G Tengu VTOL Airborne Assault CarrierEdit

Tengu Airborne Assault Carriers are heavily armed troop carrying aircraft with VTOL capabilities, used to ferry troops to and from the front lines and to provide heavy fire support from the air. The Tengu is equipped with heavy vectored thrust engines that allow it not only to take off and land vertically but also to hover in mid air, allowing it to insert soldiers into the most inaccessible locations and remain to provide air support.

Its primary armament is a chin-mounted 30mm cannon, and optional machine guns mounted on the rear ramp. It has two external hardpoints on the wings which can mount either extra fuel tanks for increased range or rocket pods. It is heavily armoured, but is still able to carry 20,000 kgs of cargo and troops.

A variant is the Tengu Kijuki, which is a heavy lift aircraft capable of airlifting vehicles to and from the front lines through the use of heavy magnetic clamps. It does not have a troop compartment.

All Tengu classes are capable of spaceflight, but do not have enough oxygen stores to fly long distances in space, usually just enough to get to the planet's surface. They are unable to return to space from planets, and are usually lifted off-world by other dropships.

  • Armament: 1x 30mm autocannons, optional door guns, 2x hardpoints for missiles, rockets and bombs
  • Crew: 2
  • Carries: 18 - 25 soldiers or 1 light vehicle (Standard), 1 vehicle (Kikuji)
  • Power Plant: Nakajima Ramjet Engine
  • Maximum Weight: 20,000 kg
  • Spaceworthy
  • Fully VTOL Capable

Mitsushishi YAGR-4b Suzumebachi Heavy Attack VTOLEdit

YAGR-3b-2
YAGR-4b Heavy Attack VTOLs
are highly maneuverable, armoured VTOL gunships that are incapable of space travel. They are propelled by two large jet engines attached to either side of the fuselage by wings. These wings are also the area where weapons are mounted. Because of their method of propulsion, YAGR-4b VTOLs are both fast and maneuverable, comparable to some jet aircraft in terms of speed but capable of maneuvering like a helicopter.

Built like a tank and capable of being armed with firepower comparable to a small warship, each YAGR-4b is fully capable of combat against almost any target. The YAGR-4b is also built in massive numbers and deployed from large assault ships that cruise into the atmosphere.

  • Armament: 4x hardpoints for missiles, rockets and bombs
  • Crew: 2
  • Power Plant: Nakajima Ramjet Engine
  • Maximum Weight: 20,000 kg
  • Fully VTOL Capable

Kawazaki Type-27 Inago'' Assault VTOLEdit

The Type-27 Assault VTOL is a troop-carrying jet aircraft capable of hovering by way of two large jet engines, somewhat similar to the YAGR-4b. It is an armed light troop transport, capable of assaulting positions and dropping soldiers to secure the area once it is done blasting the immediate area with its formidable arsenal of rockets and machine guns.

The Kawazaki Type-27 originated as a YAGR-4b rip-off. Kawazaki stripped out the weaons systems and elongated the upper cockpit, allowing it to seat a single passenger behind the pilot. This was presented to the Imperial Army as a courier vessel. As Mitsushishi's lawyers prepared to sue, Kawazaki quickly removed the Type-27 and began redisgning it completely. Retaining the powerful jet engines and wings, the entire hull was changed into a short, squat and rounded design, a stark contrast to the angular YAGR-4b. An actual troop compartment was now available, seating four soldiers. A small company known as Korinko would later ste forward to claim this hull as their original helicopter design, but were bought over by Kawazaki before the courts came to a settlement.

The Type-27 is armed with two remote-controlled 7.62mm machine guns and two rocket pods on its wings, and can carry four soldiers. It has a crew of two, but can be flown by a single pilot if neccessary.

Nagajima GA224 Type-78_ Kujira Heavy CarrierEdit

The Nagajima GA224 Type-78_ Kujira Heavy Carrier is a large, super-heavy craft capable of operating both in space and in atmospheres as a long-range transport craft that can be converted into many different configurations for multiple roles. The base Type-78 has no designation and can easily be converted into any of the other roles with some modification.

The Type-76 has an unconventional airframe design. While the hull and passenger compartments are shaped and look much like contemporary large transport aircraft, the main wings and engines are a single module attached to the top of the hull, giving the craft a somewhat odd appearance.
